Karnataka Governor has suspended the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Chairman, Shivashankarappa S. Sahukar, over a high-profile nepotism and recruitment row involving his daughters. The controversy centers around the recruitment of Sahukar's two daughters for govt jobs, specifically as Industrial Extension Officers, through the very commission he headed. One daughter reportedly used a false income certificate, claiming a yearly income of ₹40,000, to secure an OBC reservation exemption despite her father’s substantial govt salary. As the KPSC Chairman, Sahukar holds a constitutional post and draws a monthly salary of ₹2.25 lakh (plus allowances), clearly placing the family well into the "creamy layer" (income above ₹8 lakh), which disqualifies them from such benefits. A criminal FIR has been filed against one of the daughters regarding the fraudulent claims.
