There has been a lot of discussion on many online news channels about recent growth for the DSA, with many DSA affiliate candidates having seen political victories. For our foreign readers, the "Democratic Socialists of America" is a publicly democratic socialist party similar to Berniebros, with leaders who are often straight-up Marxists. The recent (and abrupt) discussion of them is loaded with a tone of fear and concern. These posts talk about the rapid rise and "the growth of communism in America." We are not really concerned about them for a few reasons: 1. They still follow the same big-tent group organization mainstream Democrats have. All of the fair and pragmatic policies they push for are undermined by their "woke" talking points, which turn off any normal person. Giving better labor rules isn't going to convince any regular person who could be pulled to our side to join them, in spite of their pro-transgender, pro-immigration, and pro-intersectionality views. 2. Some of us have interacted with DSA leaders at various universities, and they are not intelligent. These are not Machiavellian Marxists doing a covert op; their leadership itself has a poor understanding of their own ideology and basic political history. They are also largely odious leftist types that are unlikable. Pretty par for the course for such groups. We feel it's important to be aware of what the opposite side is doing, but it's also not good to give people publicity that's good or bad.
